Private Home near Ingleside, Ontario
This beautiful home was probably built around 1870, and was in original condition.
Hubbard & Co. embarked on a major campaign of sympathetic improvement. Exterior work
involved re-pointing, repairs to all windows, a new cedar shingle roof complete
with copper flashing and repairs to soffit and fascia. The exterior trim was also painted.

The kitchen wing underwent major changes. An existing wood frame addition was so deteriorated
it had to be demolished. This was redesigned slightly and rebuilt. The area
of the original kitchen was backfilled and an in-floor heating system was installed.
The kitchen cabinets were custom built in our shop using old pine lumber salvaged
from the original structure. A granite countertop with tumbled marble backsplash
completes the cabinets. The kitchen also includes a custom built fireplace, the addition
of a large door opening on the south side and a second window on the west side. The floors
in the kitchen wing are finished in a handmade Mexican tile.
The exterior walls of the home were insulated, rewired and re-drywalled. All upstairs floors
were sanded and refinished. The walls and trim were painted in appropriate colours.
