Windmill, Fort Wellington National Historic Site
This project, completed for Parks Canada, involved the stabilization of the windmill
structure. This was the site of the “Battle of the Windmill”
and the defeat of an invasion
force of 300 American Patriot Hunters and Canadian rebels by British troops
and local militia, in 1838.
The structure was re-pointed both inside and out, from top to bottom. Several original beams
were also replaced. Over the years Hubbard & Co. has done additional work
including removal of concrete from window openings, and the manufacture and installation of
wooden sash.
