My First Year in BusinessIn 1981 while still apprenticing in carpentry I established Bradford M Hubbard, Heritage Restoration. I busied myself during my spare time freelancing and doing what interesting historic restoration jobs I could find.
I restored the large Doric columns at the historic Peck Home on Dibble Street in Prescott, Ontario. This was done by cutting out rotted portions at the base of the columns and inserting wood Dutchman repairs that were shaped to match the original material. It was determined that one of the reasons for the rotting was that the columns were not vented. We addressed this concern with discrete core vents.
Whenever time allowed I would try my hand at making simple pieces of furniture.
